The psychology of bedroom colour
Bedroom colour is all important and psychologists tell us that colour can have a direct influence on a good nights sleep.
Here are some of the colours to choose or not to choose:
Purple – a muted purple or lilac is calming, but too vivid a purple and it can induce vivid dreams and even nightmares. If you are suffering from vivid dreams then consider toning your bedroom colour down a little.
Red does not provide the most tranquil colour for sleep and can raise blood pressure. However, it is also the colour of passion and love, so red can inspire and create energy in the bedroom.
Brown is muted and a mix of autumn colours can be perfect for a bedroom, however, don’t go for one bland shade of brown as this can create a gloomy and sad feel. Mix and match it up with oranges and yellows. The same with grey. try and accent yellow, teal or bold colour to liven it up.
Blue and green are calming and the most conducive to sleep. They are certainly the best shade for reducing nightmares and helping insomniacs to sleep peacefully.
Yellow is warm and comforting. It can help you relax as long as not bold as this can create too much energy for relaxation.
